God’s love is steadfast, and God is faithful. In this Easter season, we expand our understanding of our participation in God’s story through the way we show and share love. Our worship today is an exuberant expression of praise and thanksgiving. We are called to action –to love as God loves, as God in Christ has loved us. What shape our love takes is determined by the contours of our context and the needs of our moment.
We gather to praise God in the midst of good news and hard news. We can celebrate what is good and still name what needs more attention. We will re-imagine (through fresh words for the psalm) and name the joys and celebrations for our moment. We are in the midst of global environmental and economic struggles and climate change and called to respond in love, the love that God in Christ has shared to all of creation. We can befriend the struggles of the moment with creative responses to action. With open minds and hearts, we can encounter the god in Christ who walked among us, who gave his life for us, and who sets us free. How can we not help but respond in gratitude and joy? How can we not help but pour out love onto creation?
Personal Reflection:
“…Love one another.” These are the words of Jesus to his followers; so simple, and yet not always so easy.
Write, blog, draw, Tweet, or post images on your social media page about what love means to you.
